Established in 2002, the Enlighten Education Trust’s founding vision was to ‘improve the quality of teaching, learning and life in the Overstrand’.

With the recent population explosion in the area, the level of unemployment and poverty has increased and the quality of education in disadvantaged communities is often problematic. It is this need that Enlighten strives to address.

From an initial two projects in seven schools, the Trust has grown to 18 projects in 22 schools and 30 ECD and home-based educare centres.
